2008 HOSPICE 100K MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE AND BENEFIT RIDE CLIMBS TO OVER $10,000

Everyone was welcome to ride their personal challenge distance on a Road Race challenge of 60K to raise money for HospiceCare or starting at 10 am the hard-core racers were on the 100K Mountain Bike trail while non-racers rode in the Family Ride, a 2 mile closed race course. Children of all ages completed the Family Ride, each receiving a gold “Ride for Life” medal. While the racers were taking to the trails, observers enjoyed a barbecue accompanied by a silent auction surrounded by music and the beautiful scenery at Markham Park.

Markham Park's mountain bike trails are Nationally recognized as some of the most exciting and technical trails in the US. Each rider was asked to make a pledge to raise money for HospiceCare of Southeast Florida.

In dedication to Cindy Feeney, avid mountain biker, and the strength shown through her struggle with cancer, a trophy was awarded in her honor to the person who most exemplified her spirit. This was an honor to award this trophy to Racheal Wood, a Fort Lauderdale triathlon coach and avid mountain bike racer. Racheal finished the 100k race as a solo rider completing the 7 laps in under 6 hours and riding through the pain of bruised ribs. Cindy's life inspired Racheal to quite her 9-5 job and become a full time tri-athelite and training coach. She is a worth recipient of the Annual Cindy Feeney award.
