“Set the Butterflies Free”
HospiceCare of Southeast Florida's Spring Butterfly Release took place on April 20th in our Miami office garden. Guests were welcomed to the garden by hospice volunteers and staff as beautiful music filled the air. The playing of “Amazing Grace” set the reflective tone of the afternoon and signaled the beginning of the ceremony.
Following the moving rendition of “Amazing Grace”, Zoie Watson, Director of Development welcomed all guests, “We are here today to celebrate the lives of loved ones we have lost, reflect on happy memories and enjoy this sunny afternoon among new found friends”. Chaplain Alberto Castineira delivered an inspiring invocation, discussing the everlasting quality of love. As the names were read, a bell was rung and a butterfly released to represent each loved individual. Following the reading of the names, the children were invited to release the remaining butterflies. Juan Milian closed the ceremony with a heartfelt thanks to the guests and best wishes.
Following the program, guests enjoyed the tasty food from Thyme to Feast and the music played by our teen volunteer, Kevin Garcia.
