KEYS SAILFISH TOURNAMENT

    The Monroe County, Florida Keys division was also designated as one of the three non-profit organizations to benefit from the 18th Annual Poor Girl's Sailfish Tournament which was held Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the Island Grill at Windley Key. We were able to procure over 30 items for the silent auction portion of the tournament.

    Jackie Jones, Kathy Willey, and Rita Charron from the Upper Keys were the entrants in the competition. Randy Gilmore, RN, from the Lower Keys captained his vessel, The Fish Whisperer, for the event. Although our team did not catch a sailfish, they brought back a bounty of dolphin, yellowtail, and porgies.

    After a week of cold and high seas, the day of the tournament had perfect weather with sunny skies, and only a one to two foot chop on the water. It was wonderful to have Susan Telli and Beth French come down to join us!
