FINAL RESULTS of Competition Tackle’s 14th Annual Round Up

The Awards Party was a successful and fun time for everyone who competed in Competition Tackles 14th Annual Dolphin Round Up to benefit HospiceCare of Southeast Florida.  Don and Barbara Ferguson supplied endless amounts of sponsor donated prizes, great food, and non-stop energy to help raise money for Hospice. 

Flatliners Ivar Skoglund, Sarah Skoglund and Joe Strycharz, leading since Week Two, held on with their 53.1 pound dolphin to win this year’s 2010 14th Annual Round Up.  That 53 pound fish was worth about $70.00 per pound, $3,675.00 plus prizes. WOW!  Team Fountain, also leading since Week Two, took second place and $2,375.00 plus prizes with their 52 pound dolphin.  Ken McDaniel snuck up and took third place, $1,160.00 plus prizes, with a 34.7 pound dolphin and that made Chasin’ Skirts fourth place, $250.00, plus prizes, with Donnie Cundiff’s 29.1 pound dolphin.

In our Ladies Division, Ruth Hollingsworth and Priscilla Moody aboard No Bones won with their 26.8 pound dolphin.  The longtime fishing buddies won a Sunday Champagne Brunch for four (a $400.00 value) donated by the Blue Moon Fish Company.  R-Time’s Lori Romano took Second Place with a 21.2 pound dolphin; and in Third Place Bobette Boyd, from the team Bobalee with an 11 pound dolphin.  Lori and Bobette also won gift certificates from Blue Moon Fish Company.  Sporty Girl Boutique in Jupiter also gave Ruth, Priscilla, Lori and Bobette gift certificates for fishing apparel.  Love our sponsors!

In the Junior Division, eight year old Anthony Dalessio, of Davie, from the boat Unforgiven, won first place with a 9.4 pound dolphin.  Anthony won a Penn Rod and Reel Combo.  Tori Ridgeway, age 7, from the team Go Girls, caught a 4.5 pound dolphin, and Zachary Millet, age 8, fishing on the team on Triple Tail caught a 4.1 pound dolphin to win Second and Third Place respectively.

We would also like to mention Junior Anglers Hayden Hawes from 3 Lou’s  (2.8 lb dolphin) and Robert Rojas from Reels in Motion (2.5 pound dolphin).  All the junior anglers received various Family Fun Packages, which are family trips donated by Butterfly World, Lion Country Safari, Flamingo Gardens, Flamingo Drift Boat, Catch My Drift and Miami Metro Zoo. In the Fun Fish Division, Mark Leone and Jim Lieberto of Insufficient Funds, won $250.00 donated CASH, (from Head Start Lures) for their 17 pound blackfin tuna.

In the category of Largest Fish caught using a ChumBouy, Jim Borrelli, from the boat Tai Pan, won that category with his 4.8 pound dolphin.  For that, Jim wins a fishing charter with Captain Ron Hueston.

Some of the highlights from the event included the Hospice Auction, and a special donation from the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 100, John Nasta, President.  They graciously donated two Penn International Reels mounted on Star Custom Rods (each a $500.00 value!).  Two lucky tickets got two lucky anglers each a great prize!  Also, Florida Fishfinder–Tortugas and Yankee Captain’s Tortugas Trip each donated two 3 day/2 night trips to the Dry Tortugas.  (Again, thank you so much sponsors!)
