HospiceCare of Southeast Florida welcomed the community to their first annual Thanksgiving event….Thanks for the Memories, held at the Forget-Me-Not Center on November 18 in Fort Lauderdale. Over sixty guests came together to share in prayer and a memorial experience on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Susan Telli, CEO opened this memorial event followed by a moving prayer from Reverend Kathleen Bishop. The ceremony continued with a heartfelt Planting the Memories Mural dedication, and a musical healing activity directed by Dr. Alan Reitman, music therapist.
“This event was designed to help us remember our family, friends, and pets whose loving presence continues in our hearts, minds and memories”, mentioned Dr. Davele Bursor, Director of the Forget-Me-Not center. A touching and special dedication for the Children's art therapy room was made in loving memory of Michael Grimme II which was presented to his sister, Chelsea. A special thanks to Barbara Falowski of Barbara Falowski Funeral Home and Cremation for sponsoring this event.
Thanksgiving is that time of the year we have much to be thankful about, including the memories of departed loved ones. The Forget-Me-Not Center was opened in June of 2005 and is located on our campus next door to our eight bed on site Hospice facility known as the Bougainvilla. The Forget-Me-Not Center offers emotional support, art therapy, individual and group counseling or a special place for solitude and reflection.
Our Center continues to provide bereavement support to our patients' families and to the community. It is available for quiet reflection and memorial moments, where clients may bring in photos or trinkets to honor their loved ones. We are pleased to serve all populations: families, professional caregivers, adults, teens, and children.
