HospiceCare of Southeast Florida, Inc. has been operating complimentary grief support camps since 1991. Camp Coral-Broward was the first camp held in 1991. Recognizing the need for this invaluable children’s service, we expanded our camp offering to include Camp Coral-Monroe in 2008. In 2009, HospiceCare of Southeast Florida, Inc. was selected by the Moyer Foundation to establish Camp Erin-Miami.

These complimentary weekend camps provide a safe environment to support children in their grieving process. The camps are held annually in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties. The camps are run by qualified professionals and trained volunteers and provide the opportunity for campers to bond with others who have experienced a similar loss.

Our grief support camps combine a traditional, high energy, fun camp experience with grief support and education. Our camps provide a safe, caring environment and offer fun recreational activities and supportive discussions to help campers build trust, self esteem, and coping skills. Camp weekend activities include creative expression, remembrance activities, arts and crafts, evening camp fires, sports, nature walks, water activities, games, and much more!

An additional highlight is the reunion 6-8 weeks after camp. At the reunion, all the campers reunite with their camp friends and receive a memory book. Our Forget Me Not Center provides additional grief support throughout the year. Our grief support camps are a rewarding experience for children, families and volunteers!

Volunteers

All of our grief support camps are made possible by the support of many dedicated volunteers. Volunteersregatta provide assistance to the children and also help to coordinate many camp activities. Volunteers are required to participate in training sessions coordinated through the volunteer department to prepare for working with the children. Sponsor a Camper

Your sponsorship allows grieving children to be together, build community, and share feelings with one another. Often times, children do not have an avenue to express their grief or to honor and remember the person they lost. Being a grieving child can be a lonely experience. Many times he or she is the only one in the class or on a team who has lost a family member. At a time in a child’s life when it is very important to fit in, grief can be an isolating experience. At camp, children learn that grief, though painful, is a normal, healthy emotion to experience. CLICK HERE TO SPONSOR A CAMPER TODAY!
