COST OF SERVICES

Hospice Care does not refuse services to any family because of their ability to pay.
Hospice Care is a Federally certified Medicare provider and a State Medicaid provider.
Medicare/Medicaid services are covered 100% if they are related to the primary diagnosis for which the patient was admitted to the Hospice Program.
Medicare/Medicaid:
Patients are eligible for the Medicare Hospice Benefit if they have Medicare Part A.
Patients do not relinquish their eligibility for Part B Medicare benefits when they enter the Hospice Care program. Part B services that were previously reimbursable are covered.
Services performed by the patient's primary physician are billed to Medicare Part B in the usual manner.
Durable medical equipment, medications for pain and symptom management, nutritional supplements and medical supplies are all covered by the Medicare/Medicaid hospice benefit.
Hospital and/or nursing home admissions may be covered by the Medicare/Medicaid benefit.
Medicare/Medicaid will reimburse continuous nursing care in the home under Hospice crisis guidelines.

Other Payment Options

Insurance Coverage:  Hospice Care will submit a bill to a patient's insurance company to enable the patient to receive reimbursement for care provided. Reimbursement depends on individual insurance carriers. Co-insurance will be billed to the patient/family. Hospice Care has contractual arrangements with various PPO & HMO Organizations.

Financial Assistance:  Hospice Care's program is designed to alleviate the family's stress from the financial burden of a long-term illness. Hospice Care's social workers make a financial assessment to determine if the patient meets the requirements for assistance from one of Hospice Care's funding sources.

Private Pay:  Payment is requested from families based on their ability and willingness to pay for at least a part of their care.

Contributions and Memorial Gifts:  Many families and friends choose to remember their loved one by making donations to Hospice Care at the time of death in lieu of flowers.

Hospice Care accepts patients regardless of their ability to pay.
