BOUGAINVILLA RESIDENT CARE

Bougainvilla Resident Care     With the support of the Board, our residential facility was dedicated on March 2, 1995. Bougainvilla (The Villa) was a three bedroom, two bath home for patients. HospiceCare accepted the first resident on March 14, 1995.

Since 1981, HospiceCare had become increasingly aware of the need for a “place to live” for those patients who are homeless, could no longer afford to live in their own residence, or more often than not, have no one to care for them. The residence is staffed twenty-four hours a day, 365 days per year. Each twelve hour shift includes a licensed practical nurse and a certified nursing assistant. A registered nurse is available 24 hours a day.

Visiting friends and family are welcome at any time. A lush garden connects Bougainvilla (The Villa) to our office building by a brick path through the gazebo. Quiet areas for reflection, conversation or solitude are located throughout the garden. The Villa was expanded in 2001 to accommodate eight patients in three semi-private rooms and two private rooms. HospiceCare envisions 16 beds in the very near future to meet the ever growing end of life needs of patients and families in Southeast Florida.
